The National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) will suspend water supply for five hours on Thursday (6) across several areas of the Kandy district served by the Poojapitiya Water Supply Scheme, to carry out essential maintenance work.
The interruption runs from 9.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m. and affects areas fed by five service reservoirs: Medawala (Old), Medawala (New), Gallenawatta, Galagedara and Mawathagama.

Medawala (Old) Service Reservoir β Kevumkohe Road, Gonigoda, Jayanthi Road, Gurukewe, Palkumbura, Idamegama, Arambegama, Gorokgas Anga Road, Elamalpatha, Kotuthenna, Pethiyagodawatta, Kaluwana, Bothota, Harankahatenna, Dodamthenna, Kumburegedara, Dembaralova, Thibbutta and Thalapellegoda Road.
Medawala (New) Service Reservoir β Batugoda, Ehelagashinna, Diddeniya, Owissa, Watagoda, Dombagammana, Hadeniya, Suriyakumbura, Ambaruppa, Harankahawa, Bokkawala, Walathenna and Pathirada.
Gallenawatta Service Reservoir β Gallenawatta and Khananga.
Galagedara Service Reservoir β Galagedara, Wemada and Boyagoda, along with Rambukkana Road, Poholiyadda Road and Kurunegala Road.
Mawathagama Service Reservoir β Mawathagama, Barandana Road, Rambukkana Road, Paragahadeniya, Yatiwilla, Millawa and Pilessa.
The Board apologised for the inconvenience and urged consumers in the affected areas to use water sparingly during the interruption. Further information is available through the NWSDBβs 1939 hotline.
The cut is a scheduled maintenance outage and is not connected to the heavy rainfall forecast for Thursday, which covers a different set of districts.
