Galle Gallants beat Colombo Kaps by six wickets in Qualifier 2 at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium on Friday night to reach the Lanka Premier League 2026 final, where they will meet Jaffna Kings.
Chasing 177, Galle got there in 18.4 overs, finishing on 177 for 4.
Harper and Asalanka settle the chase
Australian wicketkeeper-batter Sam Harper led the pursuit with 77 from 51 balls. Charith Asalanka supported him with 59 off 42, and the pair put on 126 for the second wicket to take the game away from the Kaps.
Colombo Kaps had recovered from a poor start to post 176, losing their last wicket off the penultimate ball of their innings in the 18.5th over. Ravindu Fernando top-scored with 48 from 27 deliveries, Rubin Hermann made 45 and Malsha Tharupathi added 28.
Sachindu Colombage and Asalanka took two wickets each for Galle, both conceding 34 runs. Fernando followed his innings with 2 for 44.
A repeat of Qualifier 1
The result sets up a rematch of the Qualifier 1 fixture played on Wednesday, when Jaffna Kings made 242 for 2 — the highest total in LPL history — and beat Galle by 14 runs to go straight through to the final. Galle were given a second route through Qualifier 2 and have now taken it.
Both matches in the sequence have been played at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, which also hosts the final.
