Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer XPENG has opened pre-orders in Sri Lanka for the L03, an electric coupe SUV released simultaneously across China, Europe and 64 international markets.
The vehicle is being brought to the local market by Evolution Auto (Pvt) Ltd, XPENG’s authorised distributor in Sri Lanka. The company said the L03 will be available for viewing at its showrooms, with pre-orders open now.
Price point
Evolution Auto said the L03 is its first model in the sub-Rs 20 million price category.
“The arrival of the XPENG L03 marks an important milestone in Sri Lanka’s electric mobility journey,” said Ashan Wickramasinghe, Head of Marketing at Evolution Auto, adding that the price positioning was intended to make the company’s products accessible to a wider segment of local customers.
Specifications
According to the manufacturer, the L03 offers up to 600 km of range on the NEDC cycle, 264 Nm of maximum torque, a top speed of 180 km/h and a 10.5-metre turning circle. Its drag coefficient is quoted at 0.228 Cd.
The cabin is built around a 15.6-inch touchscreen and a 26.8-inch head-up display, with XPILOT driver assistance, adaptive cruise control, lane centring, automated parking assistance, a 360-degree camera and over-the-air software updates. Other features include a panoramic glass roof, heated and ventilated front seats, and a nine-speaker sound system.
XPENG says the vehicle carries five-star safety certifications and is fitted with seven airbags, driver monitoring, forward collision prevention, blind spot detection and lane keeping assistance. Exterior design was led by automotive designer JuanMa Lopez.
The launch comes as electric vehicles draw growing interest in Sri Lanka following the reopening of vehicle imports, though charging infrastructure and grid capacity remain constraints on wider adoption.
