Sampath Bank has funded a set of upgrades at the Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children in Colombo, the country’s national paediatric referral centre and its largest free children’s hospital.
The work included refurbishing a blood filtration machine used in patient care, installing air-conditioning in the hospital’s physiotherapy unit, erecting directional signboards across the premises and adding child-friendly decorations intended to make the environment more welcoming for young patients and their families, EconomyNext reported on Wednesday.
The bank said the initiative marked the 35th anniversary of its Employees’ Union and was supported by its Sustainability Unit.
Sampath Bank Chief Operating Officer Deepal de Silva and Employees’ Union President Kalpa Jayasinghe attended the handover along with bank staff, the hospital director and hospital personnel.
Lady Ridgeway provides specialised paediatric care to children referred from across Sri Lanka. No cost was disclosed for the upgrades.
