A delegation led by Inoue Naoki, President of the Sri Lanka–Japan Friendship Association, has met Secretary to the President Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake at the Presidential Secretariat.
The meeting, held on Wednesday, focused on strengthening the long-standing friendship and cooperation between Japan and Sri Lanka, the President’s Media Division said.
Inoue recalled that the association had recently facilitated the provision of three ambulances to the North Western Provincial Council, and said it remained willing to extend further assistance to Sri Lanka as required.
Kumanayake thanked the association for its support in deepening ties between the two countries, according to the President’s Media Division.
Senior Assistant Secretary to the President Dr. R. D. R. Perera and Assistant Secretary to the President R. A. Ruwanpathirana attended, along with association members M. R. Dissanayake, O. N. S. Amarasinghe and G. W. Thissa Dayananda.
Japan remains one of Sri Lanka’s largest bilateral creditors and development partners, and Japanese-funded infrastructure and health projects have featured prominently in the government’s post-restructuring engagement with Tokyo.
