A crocodile was found inside the banquet hall of a popular hotel in Battaramulla, Daily Mirror reported.

The animal entered the hall at a time when no function was being held, and there were no guests in the room.

Hotel staff alerted the relevant authorities, and the crocodile was removed from the premises.

No injuries or damage were reported in connection with the incident.

Battaramulla lies on the eastern edge of Colombo, bordering the Diyawanna lake and canal network.

Daily Mirror did not name the hotel or say what species of crocodile was involved, and no account of how the animal entered the building has been given.
