Colombo Stock Exchange indices were trading higher on Friday morning, EconomyNext reported, citing CSE data.
The benchmark All Share Price Index was up 0.11 percent, or 22.76 points, at 21,428.38. The more liquid S&P Sri Lanka 20 Index rose 0.27 percent, or 16.12 points, to 6,035.37.
The move interrupts a run of weakness on the bourse. The ASPI had closed lower for a third consecutive session on Thursday at 21,405.62.
Movers
Positive contributors to the ASPI were John Keells Holdings, up 0.51 percent at Rs. 19.90; Citizens Development Business Finance, up 4.80 percent at Rs. 39.30; Sierra Cables, up 5.83 percent at Rs. 34.50; and Sampath Bank, up 0.36 percent at Rs. 140.00.
The main drags were RIL Property, down 2.02 percent at Rs. 24.20; Aitken Spence, down 1.06 percent at Rs. 140.00; and Ceylon Cold Stores, down 0.20 percent at Rs. 125.00.
Market turnover stood at Rs. 274.9 million, with capital goods leading at Rs. 178.8 million — around two-thirds of the morning’s total.
Sierra Cables announces export capacity plan
Sierra Cables announced a board-approved capital investment plan of US$ 3,229,760 in new machinery and infrastructure, intended to double its export production capacity in response to strong overseas demand.
The expansion is set to be completed by the end of the 2026/27 financial year and to become commercially operational from April 1, 2027.
Shares of Sierra Cables closed up 6.13 percent at Rs. 34.60.
