Sri Lanka Cricket has named a 14-member squad for the second and final Test against India, to be played at the Sinhalese Sports Club ground in Colombo from August 23 to 27.

Dhananjaya de Silva will captain the side, with Kamindu Mendis as vice-captain, NewsFirst reported. Neither Ada Derana nor NewsFirst published the full list of names.

A squad cut from 16 to 14

The selection panel had named a 16-member squad for the first Test in Galle on August 12. The reduction to 14 comes as Sri Lanka manage a run of absences among their frontline batters.

Kusal Mendis and Dinesh Chandimal are out of the match and Pathum Nissanka is unlikely to be fit, ESPNcricinfo reported earlier this week. Chandimal was withdrawn under concussion protocols on day four in Galle and cannot return inside the mandatory stand-down period.

Uncapped batter Kamil Mishara and all-rounder Sahan Arachchige were added to the squad ahead of the Colombo Test.

Series context

The match is the second of a two-Test series forming part of the ICC World Test Championship 2025–2027 cycle. India lead after winning the Galle Test by 165 runs, leaving Sri Lanka playing for a share of the series.

The two squads were hosted by India’s High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, Santosh Jha, at a reception at India House in Colombo on Thursday night.
