Sri Lanka’s national shooting team has returned home with 10 medals — three gold, four silver and three bronze — from two international championships held in Indonesia and the Philippines.
The contingent, representing the National Rifle Association of Sri Lanka (NRA-SL), competed against shooters from close to 40 countries across the two meets.
At the Bali Open IPSC Handgun and PCC Championship 2026 in Indonesia, Sri Lankan shooters took six medals: two gold, one silver and three bronze. The standout result came in the PCC Optics junior category, where Sri Lankan athletes swept the podium, taking first, second and third places.
The team added four more medals — one gold and three silver — at the Kadayawan Festival Shooting Championship 2026, also known as the Senator Bato Cup, in the Philippines.
The shooters were met at Bandaranaike International Airport on their return by a gathering that included NRA-SL President Air Vice Marshal Vajira Senadheera, association officials and parents of the athletes.
Practical shooting under International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC) rules has produced a run of results for Sri Lanka in recent seasons, and the junior sweep in Bali points to a developing pipeline behind the senior squad.
This report is based on Daily Mirror’s account of the team’s return. No other Sri Lankan newsroom had published a report on the results at the time of writing.
