A 56-year-old man has been hacked to death at a house in the Kottalbadda area of the Kekirawa Police Division early on Sunday, police said.
The killing followed an argument between the victim and a neighbour during a party held at the victimβs own home, according to police. The dispute escalated and the neighbour allegedly attacked the man with a sharp weapon.
The victim, a resident of Kottalbadda, succumbed to his injuries. Police said the suspect fled the area immediately after the attack.
Kekirawa Police have launched an investigation and are conducting further inquiries to trace and arrest the suspect. Neither the victim nor the suspect has been named, and police have not said how many people were present at the party or whether any other person was injured.
Kekirawa lies in the Anuradhapura District in the North Central Province.
