Seven people were injured when a van veered off the Piliyandala–Kottawa Road and struck a high-voltage electricity pole.
All seven passengers were admitted to Kalubowila Hospital for treatment, Ada Derana reported. Police suspect the driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel, causing the vehicle to leave the road and hit the pole.
The impact also caused a power outage in the surrounding area.
