The Maxxis Ceylon Open 2026, one of Sri Lanka’s largest padel doubles championships, has concluded with a Grand Finale Weekend at Padel House, CR & FC, Hiru News reported.
The finale was played on August 22 and 23; the tournament report was published on September 7. The championship ran across three divisions — Pro, Intermediate and Beginner — and nine categories covering men’s, women’s and mixed doubles, with a total prize pool of Rs. 330,000, described as among the largest offered at a Sri Lankan padel event.
It was organised by Padel Chief, a Sri Lankan-built digital platform for competitive racket sports, with Maxxis Sri Lanka as title sponsor. The event featured what organisers called the country’s first public padel draw, conducted by Anujon Yogendran and Anjana De Silva, who also officiated.

Three double winners, not two
Hiru names Athukorale and Acquistapace as the weekend’s standout performers, each having won two Pro titles — their own category and the Mixed Pro they took as a pair.
The same pattern appears a division down, and goes unremarked in the report: Chinthake Dissanayake also won twice, taking Men’s Intermediate with Dominik Simonsen and Mixed Intermediate with Shayanika Fernando. He is the only other player on the list with two titles.

A rating system behind the results
Padel Chief chief operating officer Nisal Sudila said every match in the season fed into an official rating and every result was tracked, with finalists having earned their places “over two months of competition.”
That structure — a season-long rating rather than a standalone knockout — is what distinguishes this event from one-off club tournaments, and is the platform’s stated reason for running it.

Two further dates are set: the invitation-only Grand SLAM25 Championship Finale on September 12 and 13, followed by the Padel Chief Awards Night on September 18.
