David Pieris Automobiles (Private) Limited (DPA), the four-wheeler arm of the David Pieris Group, has opened a new BAIC showroom in Kandy, Hiru News reported.
The outlet is at No. 262A, Katugastota Road, Kandy, and is intended to bring the Chinese marque’s range within reach of customers in Kandy and surrounding areas.
An eight-point network
The Kandy showroom joins BAIC’s flagship outlet on Pannipitiya Road, Battaramulla, and existing showrooms at Hyde Park Corner in Colombo 02, Kurunegala, Matara, Ratnapura, Jaffna and Ampara — bringing the network to eight locations.
DPA said the expansion responds to growing demand for modern, feature-rich and technologically advanced vehicles.
Three models on sale
David Pieris Automobiles currently markets three BAIC models in Sri Lanka:
- the BAIC X55, an SUV the company positions on design, performance and practicality;
- the BAIC BJ30, an SUV aimed at buyers seeking versatility; and
- the BAIC X3e, a fully electric vehicle.
The opening comes as the local motor trade expands its retail footprint following the reopening of vehicle imports, with several distributors adding regional outlets.

No investment figure is given for the Kandy showroom, and the report does not say how many staff it employs or whether after-sales service and spare parts are handled at the same address. No sales volumes are disclosed for the BAIC brand in Sri Lanka, and no pricing is given for any of the three models. DPA does not say whether further showrooms are planned.
