Ceylinco Life has launched the 20th edition of its Family Savari customer rewards promotion, which the insurer describes as Sri Lanka’s biggest and longest-running life insurance customer promotion, Hiru News reported.

The milestone edition, launched last week, will take five winning policyholder families — 20 people — to Beijing, a further 10 families, or 40 people, to Malaysia, and 250 families, totalling 1,000 people, to Pearl Bay. That is 265 families and 1,060 people in this round.

Both new and existing policyholders are eligible, with selection based on their life insurance policies and retirement plans.

Two decades of the promotion

Across its first 19 editions, Family Savari has covered more than 11,000 families, or approximately 37,000 people, the company said. Past winners have travelled to Australia, Italy, England, Germany, Switzerland, Japan, France and Türkiye, as well as to China, Dubai, Malaysia and Singapore.

Those cumulative figures imply an average of roughly 580 families and about 1,950 people per edition — so this year’s 265 families and 1,060 people sit below the historical average, though the company’s “more than 11,000” is a floor rather than an exact total, and it does not publish a year-by-year breakdown. The calculation is ours.

The promotion continues its practice of sending Ceylinco Life’s brand ambassadors — actor Roshan Ranawana, his wife Kushlani and their son Minneth — along with the winning families.

What the company says

“Reaching the 20th edition of Family Savari is a very special milestone for us because it represents much more than the longevity of a promotion. It represents two decades of a unique relationship with our customers,” said Samitha Hemachandra, Director and Chief Operating Officer of Ceylinco Life.

“Markets evolve, customer expectations progress, and the world around us can change dramatically, but the value of family never does. For two decades, we have continued to invest in Family Savari because we believe that allowing families to travel, laugh, explore and create memories together is one of the most meaningful ways we can say thank you for the trust they place in us.”

From the photographs

Hiru’s images of last year’s winners identify two destinations more precisely than the text does. The China panel was taken at the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall, north of Beijing, and the Malaysia panel at the Genting SkyWorlds theme park — neither of which is named in the company’s account of the trips.

Not reported

This is a company announcement and Hiru carries no independent reporting on it. The cost of the promotion is not given, nor the number of policyholders eligible, the closing date for the current edition, or the method by which winners are selected beyond the reference to policies and retirement plans.

Ceylinco Life does not break the 11,000 families down by edition, so whether participation has grown or shrunk over 20 years cannot be established. The destinations for this edition are named but the travel dates are not, and no figure is given for what the company spends on the programme annually or what it attributes to it in policy sales.
