The rupee was quoted flat at 330.65/80 to the US dollar in the spot market on Thursday morning, unchanged from Wednesday’s close, while government bond yields fell for a second consecutive session — though by markedly less than the day before.
Dealers quoted five of six maturities lower, EconomyNext reported.
Thursday’s quotes
| Maturity | Thursday | Previous |
|---|---|---|
| 01.08.2030 | 11.05/15% | 11.10/20% |
| 15.10.2030 | 11.10/20% | 11.20/25% |
| 01.02.2031 | 11.20/25% | 11.25/30% |
| 15.12.2032 | 11.65/70% | 11.65/75% |
| 15.01.2033 | 11.70/75% | 11.70/80% |
| 15.10.2034 | 11.95/12.00% | 11.95/12.00% |
The move is slowing, and it is no longer uniform
The “previous” column above matches, maturity for maturity, the closing levels recorded on Wednesday — confirming these are consecutive sessions on the same curve rather than overlapping quotes.
That comparison is what makes the difference in magnitude visible. Wednesday’s declines ran 10 to 15 basis points on the bid and covered every quoted maturity. Thursday’s are 5 to 10 basis points, and two maturities barely moved: 15.12.2032 and 15.01.2033 eased only on the offer, with their bids unchanged, while 15.10.2034 was flat on both sides.
So the direction has held for a second day but the conviction behind it has thinned, and the long end has stopped participating. The 15.01.2033 bond also enters the quoted set on Thursday, having not been among the five maturities quoted on Wednesday.
On the currency, there was no movement at all to report: 330.65/80 is precisely where the rupee closed the previous session.

A note on timing
These are morning quotes, filed at 9.50 a.m. Colombo time, not closing levels — EconomyNext had not published a closing report for the session at the time of writing. Intraday quotes on the Colombo market can move materially before the close: the same report put the ASPI up 0.46% at 20,908, whereas the index finished the day up 0.33% at 20,880.90. The bond and currency levels above should be read as where the market stood mid-morning.
