A 74-year-old man was wounded early on Sunday when a gunman fired into his house at Ahungalla, police said. The attacker fled and has not been identified.

Police believe a pistol was used, and preliminary investigations indicate the weapon was aimed through a window of the house before the shots were fired, the Daily Mirror reported from Galle. The wounded man was admitted to Balapitiya Hospital. Ahungalla Police are investigating.

NewsFirst reported that the targeted house stands along C. P. de Silva Mawatha, and that an unidentified gunman carried out the shooting and left the scene. The Daily Mirror and Newswire place the house in the Galwehera area within the Ahungalla Police Division, and describe the victim as a Galwehera resident.

The two descriptions are compatible rather than conflicting: C. P. de Silva Mawatha is the coastal trunk road running through Ahungalla, and Galwehera is a locality within the same police division.

Four days, three incidents

The shooting is the third violent episode in the Ahungalla–Kosgoda coastal strip since Wednesday.

On 1 October, a brother of the drug suspect known as “Loku Patty” was shot dead at Ahungalla. On 3 October, officers of the Walana unit came under fire during a raid at Kosgoda; one suspect was wounded by return fire and two were arrested with a pistol and a revolver. Police later said that raid was mounted on intelligence that a group linked to the organised crime figure “Podi Patty” was organising a shooting.

That sequence is a matter of record. The connection is not: no source has linked Sunday’s shooting to the Kosgoda operation or to the 1 October killing, and police have not described a motive. Readers should treat the proximity as context, not as an established chain of events.

Not reported

None of the three accounts names the victim, gives the time of the shooting, describes his condition, or says how many shots were fired. No arrest has been reported, no motive offered, and no account says whether the victim was known to police or had received threats. Unverified aggregator sites are circulating a name and a time for the attack; neither has been confirmed by a newsroom and neither is carried here.
