Evolution Auto has unveiled the AVATR 07 electric SUV in Sri Lanka at a launch event at the Sangam Ballroom, ITC Ratnadipa, adding a specific model to a brand it brought into the market earlier this year.
The car is presented under the tagline “Built for those who notice”, Hiru News reported.
Three companies behind the brand
AVATR is a joint undertaking of three Chinese groups, each contributing a different layer:
- Changan Automobile — vehicle engineering and manufacturing
- Huawei — smart cabin software, intelligent driving systems and connectivity
- CATL — batteries and energy technology, from the world’s largest battery manufacturer
That split explains the car’s positioning: the pitch is as much about software as about the drivetrain.
Specifications
A rear-mounted electric motor gives a range of up to 575 km under NEDC testing — a lenient cycle, and one that typically reads higher than real-world range or the stricter WLTP standard.
The exterior, designed under Chief Design Officer Nader Faghihzadeh, achieves a drag coefficient of 0.259. Inside, the cabin has wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 16-speaker Avatr Premium 7.1 sound system, and optional digital rear-view mirrors.
The headline figure the company emphasises is 100 TOPS — trillion operations per second — of AI processing, a measure of the computing available for driver-assistance and software-defined vehicle features. Evolution Auto has made the TOPS score a selling point across its electric range.
Group CEO Virann De Zoysa called the launch “an important milestone for Evolution Auto and Sri Lanka’s premium electric vehicle market”, pairing the car with the company’s existing sales and after-sales network.
Buyers are to be supported through Evolution Auto’s multi-brand showrooms, dedicated EV after-sales facilities and its nationwide Sterling After Care network.

The announcement does not give the price, battery capacity in kWh, charging times, or when deliveries begin — nor the number of units allocated to the Sri Lankan market.
