Dialog Axiata has illuminated its corporate head office in pink to open Breast Cancer Awareness Month, launching a campaign with the Indira Cancer Trust that runs through October under the theme “A Pledge from the Heart”.
The campaign continues a run of awareness work the two have done together through Dialog’s Yeheli.lk platform, the companies said in a statement carried by the Daily Mirror and reported by Hiru News.
What the campaign asks people to do
Members of the public can visit yeheli.lk to take a pledge for early detection and register for a free monthly SMS reminder prompting regular self-examination. The campaign’s stated aims are to encourage open conversation about breast health, promote routine self-examination and connect people to verified information.
The monthly reminder is the practical core of it — a recurring prompt rather than a one-off message, which is what distinguishes a pledge campaign from a single awareness day.
Who attended
The illumination was witnessed by Dr Lanka Jayasuriya Dissanayake, Chairperson and Trustee of the Indira Cancer Trust, and Dr Sanjeewa Gunasekara, President of the Sri Lanka College of Oncologists, alongside Dialog’s Director/Group Chief Executive Supun Weerasinghe, Group Chief Corporate Officer Asanga Priyadarshana, Group Chief People Officer Rekha Weerasooriya and Group Chief Financial Officer Sim Siew Shan.
Dr Dissanayake said early detection “plays an important role in improving breast cancer outcomes, making sustained awareness and access to accurate information essential”. Priyadarshana said the partnership reflected a commitment to making health information more accessible through technology.
The platform
Yeheli.lk is described as Sri Lanka’s first anonymous, trilingual digital advisory service, operating in Sinhala, Tamil and English and offering expert-verified guidance on health, legal and psychosocial matters. It also runs an AI-powered chat and voice bot providing free, confidential support in all three languages around the clock.
The anonymity is the point for a condition many people are reluctant to raise with family or a local clinic.
Not reported
The statement does not give a target for pledge registrations, say how many people used the platform during previous campaigns, or set out what screening services the Indira Cancer Trust will provide during the month.
