Travel Trends Leisure were crowned champions of the Mosvold Sixes on Sunday, beating last year’s winners Connaissance De Ceylan Sri Lanka in a closely fought final at the Colombo Malay Cricket Club.

Transco Travels finished second runners-up in the six-a-side softball cricket tournament, Hiru News reported. The event, organised by Mosvold Sri Lanka, is contested by destination management companies — the firms that handle ground arrangements for inbound tour operators — and drew 23 of them to the 4 October tournament.

Play began with a traditional oil lamp lighting at 8.00 a.m. and ran through the day. The Mosvold-Martinus Challenge Trophy 2026 was presented to the champions by Nilanka Martinus, co-founder and managing director of Mosvold Boutique Hotels. Former Sri Lanka all-rounder Farveez Maharoof presented the runners-up award.

“It’s good to have everyone back for the second edition of Mosvold Sixes, with 23 DMCs joining us this year,” Martinus said. “This is our way of saying thank you to our partners for their support over the past year, and a season opener for the year ahead.”

The timing is deliberate: the tournament is pitched as a curtain-raiser to the winter season, the period when Sri Lanka’s inbound trade does the bulk of its business.

The field

The 23 companies taking part were Tangerine Tours, Sri Lanka Tailormade, Olanka Travels, Antiquity Sri Lanka, Travel Trends Leisure, House of Travels & Tourism, NKAR Travels & Tours, Jetwing Travels, Walkers Tours, Connaissance De Ceylan Sri Lanka, Delux Holidays, Ceylon Roots, Spiceland Holidays, Infinity Vacations, Tropiculture, Serene Travels, Authenticities, Red Apple Travel & Holidays Lanka, DTH Travel Lanka, Hayleys Travels, We Stay Ceylon, Transco Travels and Ceylon Tours.

The trophy photograph published with the Hiru report shows mixed squads, with women among the champions’ line-up.

Not reported: the filing gives no scores from the final or any other match, does not say what format the group stages took, and names no players beyond the officials presenting the awards. It does not say how the 2025 edition was contested or confirm that this was the second staging of the tournament beyond the organiser’s own description. This desk found no other verified Sri Lankan newsroom carrying the result.
