Yamamoto Motor Corporation has opened a VOGE motorcycle experience centre in Bambalapitiya, combining a showroom with customer guidance and after-sales support.
The company, which identifies itself as the Chinese brand’s authorised local agent, announced the opening in a statement dated 9 October, the Colombo Gazette reported. The facility is intended to let prospective buyers examine the motorcycles before purchase, and Yamamoto presents it as part of a plan to expand VOGE’s presence in Sri Lanka.
Chief executive Rajeev Chandrakumar linked the opening to widening access to international motorcycle brands and supporting customers through ownership.
The model on display
The centre highlights the VOGE R 125 S. The distributor lists a 124.8cc single-cylinder, four-valve, liquid-cooled engine with electronic fuel injection and a six-speed gearbox.
Stated equipment includes a seven-inch colour LED instrument display, full LED lighting and a front camera. The specification also lists disc brakes with dual-channel anti-lock braking, upside-down front suspension and a rear single-shock arrangement. All of these figures are the distributor’s; none has been independently verified.
The sales claim, and whether it holds together
Yamamoto’s account of the brand says VOGE entered international markets in 2018 and has since built a presence across Europe, Asia and Latin America. It reports global sales of 106,389 motorcycles in 2025 and 92,237 units by the end of July 2026, attributing a 43.2% year-on-year increase to the 2026 period. It also refers to manufacturing expertise and technical cooperation associated with BMW.
Those figures are internally consistent, which is worth checking rather than assuming. A 43.2% rise implies about 64,400 units over the same seven months of 2025, leaving roughly 42,000 for the final five months of that year — and 64,400 plus 42,000 returns the stated 106,389 full-year total. The claim does not contradict itself.
The more telling comparison is one the statement does not draw: at 92,237 units in seven months, 2026 sales already stand at about 87% of the entire 2025 total.
A note on sourcing
This is a distributor announcement, and the Colombo Gazette has handled it as one — attributing the specifications, the sales figures and the BMW connection to the company throughout rather than asserting them. This article keeps that attribution.
No second verified newsroom has filed on the opening. The only other Sri Lankan coverage of Yamamoto’s VOGE business found in a search sits in the Daily Mirror’s press-releases section, which is company-supplied material rather than a newsroom filing, and is therefore not cited as a source here.
The Colombo Gazette serves no machine-readable publication date; the 14 October date above comes from the visible date on the page and the permalink path, consistent with standing practice for this publisher. Note the gap between the company statement (9 October) and the filing (14 October) — neither gives the date the centre actually opened.
Not reported
The announcement gives no investment figure for the facility, no floor area, no staff numbers and no address beyond Bambalapitiya. It does not state the R 125 S price in Sri Lanka, which models beyond it are available, or whether units are being imported built-up or assembled locally.
No Sri Lankan sales figure for VOGE is given — the 106,389 and 92,237 totals are global. The nature of the BMW relationship is described only as expertise and technical cooperation “associated with” the marque, with no licensing, manufacturing or equity arrangement specified. Nor is it said whether the centre is Yamamoto’s first VOGE outlet in the country or one of several.
