Galadari Hotels (Lanka) PLC says it will reopen its landmark Colombo seafront hotel as the “Radisson Blu Hotel Galadari Colombo” during the fourth quarter of 2026, in a filing to the Colombo Stock Exchange made under Section 8 of the Listing Rules.

The 450-plus room property, which overlooks Galle Face Green and the Indian Ocean, is still under refurbishment. The reopening is conditional on two things: the completion of that renovation, and approval from Radisson Hospitality Belgium BV under the existing Hotel Management Agreement.

“On conclusion of the ongoing Hotel renovation and pursuant to the approval from Radisson Hospitality Belgium BV in terms of the Hotel Management Agreement, the reopening of the Hotel as ‘Radisson Blu Hotel Galadari Colombo’ will be scheduled during the fourth quarter of 2026,” the company said in the filing, as reported by EconomyNext and the Daily FT.

The window is narrower than it sounds

Neither filing makes the point, but the fourth quarter of 2026 began on 1 October. The announcement was made on 15 October — a fortnight into the three-month window in which the hotel is to reopen, leaving roughly eleven weeks of it. The company gives no month, and the commitment remains qualified by a renovation it describes as ongoing and by a brand approval it has not yet received.

How the Radisson arrangement got here

This is the first reopening timeline the company has published, and it attaches to a contract that has already been reassigned once.

Galadari Hotels signed a Hotel Development Services Agreement and a Hotel Management Agreement with Radisson Hotel Asia Pacific Investments Pte Ltd in 2023. This newsroom reported in June that Radisson’s Asia Pacific arm had transferred its rights and obligations under both agreements to Radisson Hospitality Belgium BV, with effect from 1 January 2025 — a disclosure Galadari made to the CSE only on 4 June 2026, some seventeen months after the assignment took effect.

That reorganisation is why the approval now being awaited sits with a Belgian entity rather than the Singapore-based arm that signed the original deal. It did not change the hotel’s ownership or the planned brand conversion.

Not reported

Neither filing gives a month or date within the quarter, the cost or scope of the refurbishment, the hotel’s room count after renovation, or how long it has been closed. Neither says when Radisson Hospitality Belgium BV’s approval is expected, nor what happens to the stated window if it does not arrive in time. Neither reports whether the reopening date has been revised from an earlier internal target, and no prior published timeline exists in this newsroom’s archive against which to measure slippage.
