The Indian actor Tiger Shroff escaped unharmed when gunmen opened fire at his vehicle in Mumbai on Sunday, Al Jazeera reported.
The shooting took place in the Juhu area of the city, Hiru News reported at 11.49 p.m. Colombo time. On Hiru’s account the attackers arrived on a motorcycle, and three people were injured, among them Shroff’s driver and the driver of a three-wheeler.
A social media post linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang claimed responsibility, Al Jazeera reported, adding that police are investigating the incident and verifying the claim. Al Jazeera’s own headline describes the actor as having been “allegedly shot at”.
What is established and what is not
The two verified accounts agree on the core of the event — that shots were fired at Shroff in Mumbai on Sunday and that he was not hurt — and they carry different parts of it.
Hiru supplies the location and the casualties. Al Jazeera supplies the claim of responsibility and the state of the police inquiry. Neither detail appears in the other outlet’s filing.
They differ on the number of attackers. Hiru says two people arrived on the motorcycle. Al Jazeera refers to “gunmen” without giving a number. This desk records Hiru’s figure as Hiru’s.
Hiru attributes its entire account to Indian media reports rather than to its own reporting or to a named police source, so it is a relay rather than an independent confirmation. The claim of responsibility is, on Al Jazeera’s own description, a social media post that police have not confirmed — it is an assertion by whoever made the post, not an established fact about who carried out the attack.
Not reported
Neither verified filing names a suspect, says whether anyone has been arrested, or gives the condition of the three people Hiru reports injured. Neither gives a precise time for the shooting, says how many shots were fired, or describes what Shroff was doing when it happened.
Nothing in either account explains why the actor would be targeted, and no Indian police statement is quoted directly in either filing. Al Jazeera’s video item carries a reference to Salman Khan in its page address, but the reported text this desk has does not set out any connection, and none is asserted here.
This is a developing story and will be updated.
