Veteran Sri Lankan actor Rahal Bulathsinhala has died at the age of 73.
He died while receiving treatment at a private hospital in Colombo, Hiru News reported on Thursday morning.
Bulathsinhala appeared in several films, among them Pem Mal Mala, Left Right Sir and Sama Kumara Katha.
He was the husband of the veteran actress Susila Kottage.
A prison officer first
Before entering the profession, Bulathsinhala served for a period as a prison officer — an unusual route into Sri Lankan screen acting, and the detail his own newsroom obituaries led with alongside his filmography.
Not reported
- Hiru’s filing does not give the cause of death, the date he entered hospital, or funeral arrangements.
- It does not give his full filmography, his stage work, or the year he began acting.
- Single-sourced at the time of writing. Ada Derana has also reported the death, under the headline “Veteran actor Rahal Bulathsinhala passes away at 73” at
adaderana.lk/news/250354, but its site has returned HTTP 403 to this desk for 34 consecutive days, so no publication date could be extracted via the usual checks and it is not cited as a source here. Its headline independently corroborates both the death and the age.
