Practical tests for the aesthetic subjects of the 2026 General Certificate of Education (Ordinary Level) examination will be held from 27 October to 6 November, the Department of Examinations has announced, according to Hiru News.
The department said admission cards have already been posted to candidates sitting the tests.
Candidates who have not received their admission card, or who need to download it again, can do so through the Department of Examinations’ official website.
What the tests cover
The aesthetic subjects at O/L level include music, dance, art and drama. They are assessed partly by practical examination — a performance or portfolio before an examiner — in addition to the written papers, which is why they are scheduled separately from the main timetable.
The practical window opens four days from the announcement, leaving a short period for candidates who have not received their admission cards to retrieve them online.
Not reported
Hiru does not list which aesthetic subjects are covered, how many candidates are due to sit the practicals, or where the tests will be held. It does not give the examination centres, the schedule for individual subjects within the window, a contact number for candidates with admission card problems, or the date of the written papers. The announcement is not quoted directly and no departmental official is named.
No other verified newsroom had filed on the announcement at the time of writing.
