DIMO Healthcare has installed a Siemens Healthineers MAGNETOM Sola 1.5T MRI scanner at Hemas Hospital Thalawathugoda, which it describes as the first MRI system in Sri Lanka equipped with the manufacturer’s Deep Resolve artificial intelligence technology.

The installation adds AI-based image reconstruction to the hospital’s diagnostic imaging services, Colombo Gazette reported. DIMO said it would provide application training, maintenance and continuing technical support for the equipment.

What the technology does

Deep Resolve applies deep learning to reduce noise and sharpen reconstructed MRI images. Siemens Healthineers describes it as supporting faster image acquisition and higher resolution, with the gain depending on the techniques and applications used — a qualification carried in the report rather than a guaranteed result.

The scanner’s listed clinical applications cover neurological, cardiac, vascular, abdominal, pelvic, breast, musculoskeletal and cancer imaging, along with brain and spine examinations, imaging of the bile ducts and whole-body studies.

What the companies said

DIMO Executive Director Wijith Pushpawela said the company’s role went beyond supplying the machine.

“From installation and commissioning to application training and ongoing technical support, we work closely with healthcare providers to ensure advanced medical systems are effectively integrated into clinical practice.”

Dr. Lakith Peiris, managing director of the Hemas Hospitals and Laboratory Chain, said the investment was intended to strengthen the hospital’s capacity to deliver timely diagnostic care and widen clinicians’ access to detailed imaging.
