A 62-year-old man who had not returned home for three days has been found drowned in Thune Wewa, in the Lathugala area of the Uhana police division in Ampara district.

Uhana Police began investigating after receiving a complaint on the morning of Sunday, 1 November, Hiru News reported.

The dead man was a resident of Lathugala. Family members searching for him after his three-day absence found his body in the tank, where he had drowned.

Uhana Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.

Not reported

The filing does not name the man, state when he was last seen, or say how long the body is believed to have been in the water. It does not report whether a post-mortem examination has been held or what it found, and gives no indication of how he entered the water. No cause has been established beyond drowning.

This is a separate incident from the drowning of a 10-year-old boy in the Keselgamu Oya, which the Daily Mirror has reported separately.
