Maliban Biscuit Manufactories (Pvt.) Ltd has received a Commendation Award at the National Supply Chain Excellence Awards 2026.
The award was made under the category Best Supply Chain Practicing Organisation 2026 – Extra Large Scale, Manufacturing, at a ceremony held at the Monarch Imperial, the Daily Mirror reported.
The awards are organised by the Institute of Supply and Materials Management, Sri Lanka.
A commendation is a recognition within the category rather than the outright category win, and the company’s announcement does not name the winner in its class.
The company’s position
Maliban said the award reflected the importance it places on maintaining an integrated supply chain as part of its wider manufacturing operations, and attributed the result to its supply chain teams and supporting staff.
The company, one of Sri Lanka’s largest biscuit manufacturers, has a history spanning more than seven decades. It said its emphasis on supply chain resilience supports product availability and service levels, and that it intends to continue developing those practices.
Not reported
The announcement does not give the date of the ceremony beyond “recently”, name the other organisations recognised in the category, or set out the criteria the Institute applied in making the assessment. It gives no operational figures — distribution reach, number of outlets served, inventory or service-level metrics — against which the recognition could be read.
For a manufacturer of fast-moving packaged food, supply chain performance governs shelf availability across a large retail network, which is the commercial substance behind awards of this kind. No other verified newsroom had carried the award at the time of writing.
