A man died in hospital after a fight between two groups attending a wedding reception at a function hall in Godagama, Homagama.

An argument that broke out inside the hall where the wedding was being held escalated, and developed into a physical clash after the parties left the venue, Hiru News reported.

The dead man was a 34-year-old resident of Kiriwattuduwa, Homagama, police said. He was taken to hospital after the clash and died there.

Both groups were guests at the reception. The fatal confrontation happened outside the building, not in the hall itself.

Not reported

The filing does not say when the wedding took place or when the man died, what the argument was about, how many people were involved, how he was injured, or whether anyone has been arrested. It does not name the function hall, the police division handling the case, or the deceased, and does not say whether a post-mortem has been ordered.

A note on sourcing: no other verified newsroom had filed on this incident at the time of writing, and the Daily Mirror’s breaking-news rail did not carry it. Searches for corroboration returned a different fatal Homagama clash — the death of a 19-year-old at a private university students’ party at a hotel in Moragahahena in April 2026 — which is a separate case. “Young man dies in Homagama clash” is not a description that identifies an incident; the venue type, the age and the home area are what separate them.
