St. Peter’s College and Cargills Ceylon have extended their rugby sponsorship agreement through the 2027 inter-school season, continuing a commercial partnership that has run for more than a decade.
The agreement was signed at the college office by the Rector, Fr. Rohitha Rodrigo, and Rumaiz Rahim, Group Manager (Marketing Services) of Cargills Ceylon, the Daily Mirror reported. The backing comes through the company’s Kotmale dairy brand.
Kotmale has sponsored Peterite rugby for over ten years, a period in which the team has won several trophies.
Coming off a third-place League finish
The renewal follows a 2026 season in which St. Peter’s finished third among the 20 schools in the League. The school’s rugby programme has a history of more than a hundred years.
Flanker Hasara Madugasge will captain the side in 2027.
Not reported
The filing does not disclose the value or length of the agreement beyond the 2027 season, and does not say whether the terms differ from the previous arrangement. It carries no quotes from either signatory, and does not name the school’s other sponsors or say whether any have changed.
It does not identify the two schools that finished above the Peterites in the 2026 League, or name the team’s coaching staff for the coming season.
