A 61-year-old woman was murdered in the Padiwela area of the Bingiriya Police Division on Wednesday (10) after her husband attacked her with a sharp weapon during a domestic dispute, police said.
The suspect, a 59-year-old resident of Padiwela, was taken into custody soon after the incident, the Bingiriya Police told Newswire. He later died while receiving treatment at the Bingiriya Hospital for an unrelated illness.
Investigations revealed that the killing stemmed from a prolonged family conflict between the couple, police said. The Bingiriya Police are continuing further inquiries into the case.
