Former SriLankan Airlines Chief Executive Officer Kapila Chandrasena was further remanded until May 5, 2026 at his court appearance on Tuesday (April 28), Ada Derana reported.
Chandrasena is being held in connection with the Airbus aircraft procurement bribery case, which centres on alleged kickbacks during the national carrier’s purchase of Airbus jets. He was arrested on March 12 and has been remanded continuously since then. At an earlier hearing on April 17, Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama rejected his bail application and extended remand to April 28.
Tuesday’s order keeps Chandrasena in custody for another week. Arrest warrants remain outstanding for former chairman Shamindra Rajapaksa and former board member Priyanka Wijenayaka, both of whom are abroad.
The case is one of several active accountability proceedings tied to legacy Sri Lankan airline and procurement scandals that have moved through the courts since the change of government.
