A 48-year-old resident of Dharga Town was hacked to death in Diyahoraduwa, within the Walipenna Police division, on Friday evening following an argument, police said.
The victim had reportedly been with a group of people when he became involved in an altercation with another individual, Newswire reported, citing police. Investigations revealed that the suspect attacked the victim with a sharp weapon during the dispute.
A 56-year-old suspect has since been arrested in connection with the killing. Walipenna Police are conducting further investigations.
No further details on the cause of the dispute or the identities of those involved have been released.
