Sri Lanka and India are set to play a two-match Test series between August 15 and 27, according to a Cricbuzz report cited by Newswire on Monday.
Cricbuzz reported that while the tour window had been identified, the exact dates for the two Test matches were yet to be finalised. The report also said there was currently no confirmation regarding the T20 Internationals that had earlier been linked to the tour.
The T20Is were reportedly not part of the original Future Tours Programme (FTP), but had been discussed separately as a possible addition aimed at helping raise funds following the impact of Cyclone Ditwah in Sri Lanka. An official announcement on the fixtures is yet to be made by either board.
A confirmed India Test series in August would slot in alongside the Sri Lanka–India ‘A’ and Afghanistan ‘A’ tri-nation series in June to give Sri Lanka one of its busier cricket months of the year. A Ditwah-relief T20I leg, if confirmed, would also mark the second international fundraising slot of this cycle, after the women’s side’s series sweep against Bangladesh.
