The online portal for foreign player registration for the 2026 Lanka Premier League (LPL) will open on May 8 and remain accessible until May 18, Sri Lanka Cricket announced on Tuesday.

Registration will be available via the SLC website at srilankacricket.lk. The sixth edition of the T20 league is scheduled to be held in July and August 2026 across four venues β€” Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC) and R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium (RPICS) in Colombo, Pallekele International Cricket Stadium (PICS) in Pallekele, and Rangiri Dambulla International Cricket Stadium (RDICS) in Dambulla.

The 10-day registration window opens at a moment of governance change at SLC, with the Sports Ministry-appointed Transformation Committee chaired by Eran Wickramaratne taking up its mandate ahead of an SLC ExCo overhaul. The committee includes Kumar Sangakkara, Sidath Wettimuni and Mahanama, and is empowered under Sports Law No. 25 of 1973 to bring SLC under direct ministry oversight.

The 2025 LPL was won by Jaffna Kings, with Wanindu Hasaranga the season’s leading wicket-taker. Foreign player participation has historically been a major draw for the league, with players from Australia, the Caribbean, England, Pakistan and South Africa featuring in past editions.
