The Police Media Division on Friday reissued its public advisory on the SriLankan Airlines impersonation scam after correcting a phone number wrongly included in the original April 23 release.

The earlier release (D/Media/Out/649/2026) had listed 011-7771979 among numbers linked to fraudsters posing as “Sri Lankan Airline” via WhatsApp and directing users to install a malicious banking-trojan application named SriLankan.apk. SriLankan Airlines Limited has since clarified that 011-7771979 is its official, lawful contact number, and the carrier’s Chief Executive Officer formally requested its removal. The corrected advisory was issued at 11.26 a.m.

The reissued statement reaffirms the original fraud warning details: scammers continue to distribute the SriLankan.apk banking trojan via three impersonating domains — srilankan.wuozgo.cc, srilankan.vaco.cc and srilankan.krgo.cc — granting remote access to victims’ phones once installed and harvesting one-time passwords, bank account details and biometric data to transfer funds illegally.

The corrected list of phone numbers linked to the fraudulent operation is 077-4558361, 074-1142208, 077-5791209 and 074-3268200. Police urged the public to remain vigilant, avoid clicking on application links sent through WhatsApp or other messaging services, and report any suspicious contacts to the police and the relevant bank’s fraud hotline.
