The Indian cricket team will arrive in Sri Lanka on August 4 for its two-match Test series, with the tour’s warm-up fixture cut from four days to three.
The practice match will now begin on August 7 at the Nondescripts Cricket Club grounds in Colombo, the Daily Mirror reported. It had originally been scheduled as a four-day fixture.
The first Test will be played at the Galle International Cricket Stadium from August 15 to 19. The second and final Test follows at the Sinhalese Sports Club ground in Colombo from August 23 to 27.
Dates now firm
The confirmed schedule settles a fixture list that had been provisional for months. Sri Lanka and India were reported in May to be heading for an August 15–27 window, but the exact match dates were unconfirmed at that point, as was the status of a set of Twenty20 Internationals that had been discussed separately as a possible Cyclone Ditwah fundraising addition to the tour.
The T20 leg has not appeared in the confirmed schedule.
The two Tests form part of the ICC World Test Championship 2025–2027 cycle, making the series consequential for both sides’ standing in the table.
No reason has been given publicly for shortening the warm-up match by a day.
