The Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) has extended the deadline for business premises operating within its limits to obtain trade licences, giving operators until August 31 to complete the process.
The original deadline was June 30. The CMC has granted the additional two-month period to allow business owners who have not yet secured a licence to finalise their applications.
The Municipal Commissioner said legal action will be taken against business establishments that fail to obtain the required trade licence before August 31, under the provisions of the Municipal Council Ordinance.
A trade licence is a mandatory authorisation issued by the council for commercial premises operating within its area, and is administered under the Municipal Council Ordinance.
Businesses within the Colombo municipal limits that have not yet applied are advised to do so before the end of the month to avoid enforcement action.
