Sri Lankan organisations have taken 20 positions on Great Place To Work’s 2026 list of the 200 Best Workplaces in Asia, with Hilton and Marriott International placing first and second in the large-employer category.
The rankings were published by Daily Mirror on Tuesday. Sri Lankan winners were felicitated at a gala awards ceremony held on 11 September at Cinnamon Life Colombo.
How the list is built
The ranking draws on confidential employee survey data — more than 3.8 million individual responses, representing the experiences of close to 8.9 million employees across the Middle East and Asia region.
Countries and territories covered are Bahrain, Greater China, India, Indonesia, Israel, Japan, Kuwait, Oman, the Philippines, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, the UAE and Vietnam.
Organisations are split into two size lists of 100 each: small and medium (50–499 employees) and large (500 or more). Employees are surveyed on trust, innovation, adherence to organisational values and effective leadership. Across all 200 recognised organisations, the average positive workplace experience reported was 91%.
“These companies are delivering outstanding experiences for employees across an immense variety of markets, from developing countries to established post-industrial economies,” said Michael C. Bush, CEO of Great Place To Work. “It’s the people who make companies successful and drive business forward around the world.”

A discrepancy in the report
Daily Mirror’s text states that “fifteen Sri Lankan winners” were felicitated, but the list it then publishes names 20 organisations — ten in each size category. The outlet does not reconcile the two figures, and no other verified newsroom had carried the Asia rankings at the time of writing. The count of 20 here is taken from the itemised list rather than the summary sentence.
Hilton’s Asia placing is consistent with its September ranking as Sri Lanka’s No. 1 Best Workplace, a separate national list published by the same organisation.
