Hilton has again been named Sri Lanka’s No. 1 Best Workplace by Great Place To Work, retaining the position for a second consecutive year, Hiru News reported.
The group was also recognised as a Best Workplace in Asia in the Large category, named Best Multi-National Corporation, and received the Industry Excellence Award for Hospitality – Hotels and Resorts.
The recognition covers Hilton’s four Sri Lankan properties: Hilton Colombo, Hilton Colombo Residences, DoubleTree by Hilton Weerawila Rajawarna Resort and Hilton Yala Resort. Hilton Colombo has operated in the capital for nearly four decades and Hilton Colombo Residences for close to three; the Weerawila property sits within the Weerawila Bird Sanctuary overlooking Weerawila Lake, and Hilton Yala Resort is set near the Yala wilderness.
“Being recognised as the Best Workplace across Sri Lanka and Asia is an extraordinary honour, but what gives these awards real meaning is the people behind them,” said Manesh Fernando, Area General Manager for Hilton Sri Lanka and General Manager of Hilton Colombo.
“Our Team Members have built a culture rooted in trust, care and opportunity, and this recognition is a tribute to every one of them across our four hotels.”
Amari Colombo certified at 91%
Separately, Amari Colombo has been certified a Great Place To Work organisation for August 2026 to August 2027, recording a Trust Index score of 91 percent, the Colombo Gazette reported. The hotel said the score surpasses the global benchmark for a positive employee experience.
“A 91% Trust Index is the highlight of this recognition for us. It tells us that our people genuinely experience Amari Colombo as a workplace where trust, respect, collaboration and belonging matter,” said Monty Ariyaratne, General Manager of Amari Colombo.
Ariyaratne linked the result to the sector’s adoption of new technology, saying that as AI continues to evolve, “our responsibility as leaders is to ensure that progress never comes at the expense of human connection.”
The conference behind both announcements
Both recognitions were framed against the Great Place To Work For All Conference 2026, held in Colombo on 10 September and organised by Great Place to Work Sri Lanka. The conference brought together business and HR leaders around the theme “The People Algorithm” — how organisations balance technological advancement with employee experience and human-centred leadership.
Amari Colombo’s Hotel Manager Indika Jayawardena, representing ONYX Hospitality, joined a panel titled “From the Boardroom to the Breakroom: Re-Engineering Business with Tech, Talent & Trust,” alongside Vinay Jaswal of Marriott International, Tracey McPeake of Oxford College of Business and Yohan Liyanage of Sentiva and Altrium.
That two of the headline results come from hotel groups reflects how large a share of formal-sector employment tourism now carries, at a point when arrivals have been running as a principal driver of services-sector growth.
