The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation has raised the price of four fuel grades with effect from midnight on Sunday (November 1), under the monthly revision carried out through the fuel pricing formula.

Octane 95 Euro 4 petrol rose by Rs 15 a litre, from Rs 475 to Rs 490. Lanka Super Diesel 4 Star Euro 4 rose by the same margin, from Rs 528 to Rs 543.

The two most widely used grades moved by smaller amounts. Octane 92 petrol was increased by Rs 10, from Rs 414 to Rs 424 a litre, while Lanka Auto Diesel went up by Rs 5, from Rs 392 to Rs 397.

Kerosene was left untouched at Rs 285 a litre.

The Daily Mirror and Hiru News published identical figures for all five grades, including the pre-revision prices.

Lanka IOC brings two grades into line

Lanka IOC subsequently revised its own prices in line with the state corporation’s move, Hiru News reported, bringing its Octane 92 petrol and auto diesel rates level with CEYPETCO’s.

The private retailer went the other way on its premium diesel, cutting Super Diesel by Rs 30 a litre to Rs 570 — still well above the state corporation’s Rs 543. Lanka IOC left Octane 95 petrol unchanged at Rs 495.

Neither filing gave a reason for the direction of the revision. Sri Lanka’s fuel prices are reset at the start of each month under a formula that tracks import costs, exchange rates and taxes, and the October revision had also moved premium grades.

The increase lands alongside a separate decision by Litro Gas Lanka to hold domestic LP gas prices steady for November, leaving cooking gas unchanged while transport fuels rise.
