Litro Gas Lanka has issued a special notice to all of its sales agents instructing them to refrain completely from hoarding gas, restricting sales, selling above the stipulated maximum retail price, or charging unapproved additional fees.
Dealers who disregard the instruction will face strict disciplinary action, the company said, and it will move to cancel their dealership outright where necessary.
The notice, carried by Hiru News and reproduced as a signed company statement, names four specific practices: holding back stock, limiting how much a customer may buy, exceeding the controlled retail price, and levying charges the company has not approved.
Litro is Sri Lankaβs dominant domestic LP gas supplier and its cylinder prices are set centrally, which makes dealer-level markups and withheld stock the usual route through which consumers end up paying more than the published rate.
The warning came on the same day Litro confirmed that its cylinder prices would remain unchanged through November, with the 12.5 kg cylinder held at Rs 4,365 β meaning any price a customer is asked to pay above the published figure this month is an unauthorised one.
It also lands alongside a separate disclosure that the government is weighing filling Laugfs-branded cylinders with Litro gas should the private supplier be unable to maintain supply.
Litro did not say how many dealers are under investigation, nor whether any dealerships have already been terminated. No separate statement from the Consumer Affairs Authority accompanied the notice.
