The Indonesian Navy’s sail training vessel KRI Bima Suci (945) arrived at the Port of Colombo on Tuesday, April 15, as part of the ASEAN Plus Cadet Sail (APCS) 2026 programme.

The vessel, commanded by Commander Sugeng Hariyanto, carries Indonesian naval cadet officers along with cadets from 26 foreign countries. The Sri Lanka Navy welcomed the ship with a ceremonial reception in accordance with naval traditions.

During its stay, Sri Lanka Navy trainees and naval personnel are scheduled to visit the vessel for observation purposes. Several programmes aimed at enhancing goodwill between the two navies will also be held, while the visiting crew is expected to tour significant locations across the country.

The visit follows a series of recent naval engagements at Colombo port, including the Pakistan Navy goodwill visit earlier this month. The port calls reflect Sri Lanka’s continued role as a key Indian Ocean maritime hub despite the regional disruptions caused by the Hormuz Strait crisis.

KRI Bima Suci is a barquentine-type tall ship that has served as Indonesia’s primary sail training vessel since 2017, regularly undertaking international goodwill voyages.
