A protest march demanding justice for victims of the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks is being held in Kandy today, organised by the Kandy Christian Council.

The march begins at 3:30 PM from Good Shepherd Convent and proceeds to George E. de Silva Park in Torrington, where a demonstration and prayer service will be held. Organisers have asked participants to bring protest placards or candles.

The Kandy rally follows commemorations in Colombo on Easter Sunday (April 20), at which Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith repeated calls for authorities to identify and bring the masterminds of the 2019 attacks to justice. Seven years after the coordinated bombings killed more than 270 people at churches and hotels, the Catholic Church and victim families have continued to say that full accountability has not been delivered.

The Kandy event extends the accountability campaign beyond Colombo as parliament prepares to take up a planned review of the Counter-Terrorism Act.
