A suspect has been arrested in Wattala after a stock of narcotics was found concealed inside sound amplification equipment at a commercial establishment, the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) said.

The raid was carried out following a tip-off received by authorities. Officers recovered 1 kilogram and 14 grams of ice (methamphetamine), 1 kilogram of heroin, 308 grams of kush and 4,910 narcotic pills. Cash amounting to Rs. 145,000 was also seized at the location.

Investigations are continuing.

The case fits a recurring pattern of multi-substance seizures in the western suburbs, where the PNB and Walana Central Anti-Corruption Unit have repeatedly run combined heroin–ice–kush operations through commercial premises and rented apartments. A Pannipitiya raid the previous day recovered similar quantities, while Court has now placed 120 foreign nationals from a separate Rajagiriya operation on remand over alleged immigration and cybercrime offences.

The use of bulky electronics — speakers, amplifiers and similar equipment — as concealment is a method narcotics officers have flagged repeatedly in earlier briefings on container and freight-channel detections.
