Two suspects have been arrested in Pannipitiya with three different narcotics in a single raid, police said.
Officers from the Walana Central Anti-Corruption Unit, acting on a tip-off, recovered 120 grams of heroin and 248 grams of “ICE” methamphetamine from one suspect, NewsFirst reported. A second man was found in possession of 360 grams of synthetic cannabis sold in Sri Lanka under the street name Kush.
The suspects are aged 27 and 28. Police said further investigations are underway.
The seizure adds to a steady stream of multi-drug raids by the Walana unit across the western suburbs in recent weeks. ICE in particular has emerged as a fast-growing pillar of the local trade alongside heroin, with 248 grams representing a significant single-suspect haul. Kush — typically a sprayed plant material laced with synthetic cannabinoids — has become an increasingly common find in Colombo-area busts after authorities flagged it as a public-health concern earlier this year.
No further details on the suspects’ nationalities, where the drugs originated or whether they will be produced before a magistrate were released.
