A man who allegedly murdered his mentally impaired brother has been arrested by the Arachchikattuwa Police after surrendering and confessing to the crime, Ada Derana reported.
The suspect turned himself in to investigating officers following the killing and made a full confession, police said. He was subsequently taken into custody.
Police have not publicly detailed the circumstances or motive behind the killing. As is standard practice, investigators are expected to record statements, gather forensic evidence and produce the suspect before a magistrate as the case proceeds.
The case underscores continuing concerns about the vulnerability of people with disabilities, who can be at heightened risk of harm and require additional protection and support. Authorities were expected to complete their inquiries before pressing formal charges.
