The National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) has announced a four-hour water cut across the Kandy District on Wednesday, July 22, Ada Derana reported.

The supply suspension takes effect from 10am to allow essential maintenance work to be carried out at the Kandy Main Water Supply Project, which serves the district.

The Board advised affected residents to store sufficient water ahead of the interruption and to bear with the temporary inconvenience while the work is completed.

Scheduled supply cuts for repairs, cleaning and system upgrades are routine for the NWSDB, which periodically suspends distribution in specific areas so crews can work safely on pipelines, pumps and treatment facilities. Supply is normally restored once maintenance is finished, though water pressure can take some time to return to normal in higher-elevation or outlying parts of a service area. Residents were advised to check for updates from the Board if the interruption extends beyond the announced window.
