The choir of St. Bridget’s Convent, Colombo, has won one gold award and two silver awards at the Singapore International Choral Festival (SICF) 2026, NewsFirst reported.
The school sent a delegation of nearly 175 students, one of the largest contingents at the festival, competing across three categories. The choir took gold in the Equal Voices category for participants aged 12 and under, and silver in both the Musica Sacra Open and Folklore Open categories.
Its Folklore Open performance drew on Sri Lankan traditions, blending indigenous melodies, layered harmonies and choreography, supported by training in traditional drums and flutes.
The school credited choir directresses and past pupils Priyanthi Seneviratne Van Dort and Harindi De Silva, with choreography by Malinthi Kulathunga and piano accompaniment by Maneesh Dasanayake. Principals Rev. Sr. Sujani Fernando and Rev. Sr. Dilrukshika Silva backed the choir’s participation, while the Sri Lanka High Commission in Singapore and the Singapore–Sri Lanka Business Association were among those who supported the trip.
The awards come as St. Bridget’s Convent approaches its 125th anniversary.
