One person has been injured and hospitalised following a shooting at Kuppiyawatta in Dematagoda, police said on Thursday (July 23).
According to police, two gunmen on a motorcycle opened fire on two men who were also travelling on a motorcycle. One of them was wounded in the attack and admitted to the National Hospital of Sri Lanka in Colombo for treatment.
Police are conducting further investigations into the incident. No arrests had been reported at the time of writing, and the motive behind the shooting was not immediately clear.
The attack is the latest in a run of targeted shootings reported in and around Colombo in recent days, several of which police have linked to underworld and personal disputes.
