President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has appointed M. K. Saman Sri Ratnayake as the new Chairman and a member of the Delimitation Commission, the President’s Media Division (PMD) said.
M. B. Rohana Pushpakumara and K. Thavalingam have been appointed as the other members of the Commission.
The letters of appointment were handed over to the newly appointed officials by Secretary to the President Dr Nandika Sanath Kumanayake at the Presidential Secretariat on Thursday afternoon (24).
According to the PMD, the appointments were made to fill vacancies that arose following the expiry of the terms of office of the previous members of the Commission.
The Delimitation Commission is a constitutional body responsible for demarcating electoral boundaries, and its reconstitution comes as the government moves to restructure key constitutional institutions.
